DAS NATIONALE GESETZ FEST – 2021

HOSTED BY THE KERALA LAW ACADEMY LAW COLLEGE PEROORKADA, TRIVANDRUM

Established in 1966, KERALA LAW ACADEMY (KLA) is a seat of excellence in legal education, consultancy, research and in pioneering law reforms. The Academy’s prestigious institute, “the Kerala Law Academy Law College” is located in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, India, on a hill of sylvan splendour with a view of the Arabian Sea on one side and the Western Ghats on the other. The liberal ambience of the research wing “Center for Advanced Legal Studies and Research” (CALSAR), is conducive to ignite nascent thoughts and ideals. This finds vivid expression in “Academy Law Review” which has won international acclaim ever since its appearance in print in 1977. The moot teams of the Academy are the flag bearers in renowned international fora. The Academy’s social commitment is imbedded in its socio-legal clinics and consultancy service. The college of law of the Academy is affiliated to the University of Kerala The National Law Fest will be held over a five day period from 9 to 13th of March 2021 by the Kerala Law Academy Law College through online platforms like ZOOM and GOOGLE MEET. The fest is being conducted with the dual purpose of providing students a platform to showcase their talents and also to help improve their knowledge. Participants will be given the chance to win a cash awards in various events organised under the umbrella of the Law Fest. The fest shall comprise of a series of competitions/events. All of these events will be conducted through online medium.

GENERAL RULES FOR THE COMPETITIONS:

1. ELIGIBILITY:

The participant must either be a bonafide student pursuing Three Year/Five Year LL.B. Degree Programme from a Law College/University recognized by the Bar Council of India or a student pursuing a course of study from any College/University recognized by the Government of India.

  • The ADR Competition and Trial Advocacy is open only to students pursuing Three Year/Five Year LLB Degree Programme in any Law College/ Law Schools and Faculties/Universities, Departments of Law in India recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Let’s Teach is open to Research Scholars as well as participants pursuing LL.M from any Law College/ Law Schools and Faculties/Universities, Departments of Law in India recognized by the Bar Council of India.

2. REGISTRATION:

2.1. PRE-EVENT:

2.1.1 An individual who wishes to participate in the National Law Fest 2021 shall make the required payment by duly filling the proforma through the link provided for the respective event (present in the rules of each competition/event) by Friday, 5th of March 2021.

2.1.2. The fee structure: Registration fees for each event in the National Law Fest 2021 is provided in the rules of the respective event.  

2.1.3. Once an individual from a College/University has registered themselves for an event then he/she CANNOT alter their registration.

2.2. COURSE OF EVENT:

2.2.1. The participants in each event is requested to ensure that they have completed the registration process before the start of the Inaugural Function.

2.2.2. The competition is conducted through online platforms ZOOM and GOOGLE MEET. The meeting ID, Password and Link will be communicated to the participants before the event by the organisers of the respective event.

2.2.3. All participants should have good access to internet and be able to access the above said online platform with good camera. This is a mandatory requirement for participation.

2.2.4. Participants are to use Laptops and Smartphones with good camera during the course of the events. Use of Laptops is mandatory for Trial Advocacy and ADR Competitions. And the same though not compulsory is preferred for the rest.

3. CODE OF CONDUCT:

3.1. All the participants MUST be dressed in a dignified manner (FORMAL WEAR).

3.2. The participants shall strictly follow the timings of each event failing which the participants may be disqualified from that event.

3.4. The participants are requested to check the schedule of the events and plan their participation accordingly. The organizers will not be responsible for the clash of any events.

3.5. Friendly and healthy interaction with the students of the host college is encouraged and expected.

4. CAVEAT:

4.1. The participants are informed that the registration for the various competitions shall be limited and done on a first come first serve basis.

 4.2. The organizers reserve the right to change the specifications with regards to the events at any time and the same shall not be disputed by any participant.

4.3. The organizers may change the system of assessment for any competition at any time and the same shall not be disputed by any participant.

4.4. Participants shall not reveal the identity of his/her college/university at any point of time during the competition.

4.5. Participants shall ensure that their names are correctly spelt. The certificates shall bear the name with the spelling mentioned in the Registration Form.

4.6. In case of any disputes, the decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final.

4.7. It SHALL be assumed that the participants have read this entire document.

4.8. Finally, the receipt of the Registration Form as well as the payment of registration fee shall serve as an acceptance of the GENERAL RULES FOR THE COMPETITION and also an agreement to be bound by the same.

5. AWARDS AND POINT SYSTEM

5.1. The winner of an individual competition gets a total of 100 points while the runner up gets 50 points.

5.2. The winners of a team competition get a total of 70 points while the runners up get 35 points.

5.3. The Law College/University which has the highest points overall will win the DAS NATIONALE GESETZ FEST 2021 Trophy.

5.4. E- Certificates will be given to all participants. E- Certificate of Merit will be given to the winners as well as to the runners up. The winners of each competition will be given a cash prize too.
