The Kerala Law Academy holds several academic competitions at the National Level providing a venue for academic debates, deliberations and legal development and reform for the benefit of the Legal Community and the students. Two of the important competitions are the All India Moot Court Competition for the Kerala Law Academy Trophy held regularly every year since 1990 and the National Client Consulting Competition for Justice P. Govinda Menon Trophy regularly held every year since 2000.
The Moot Court Competition for law students at the National Level is for giving the students greater exposure in legal analysis and oratory skills and to inculcate in them a spirit of competition. Presently the All India Moot Competition has successfully completed its 23rd year. The said competition for The Kerala Law Academy Trophy is the third oldest moot court competition in the country (The oldest competition being the Jessup (National Rounds) started in 1978 and the second oldest one being the Bar Council of India National Competition started in 1989). More significant is the fact that the Kerala Law Academy All India moot court competition attracts the highest number of participants and has the highest number of participating law schools/colleges among the various national moot court competitions in India and is recognized in the legal circles as one of the best in India, being a converging point for Professors, law teachers and academics from various Universities of India, lawyers of repute and for being the most neutral and unbiased one. The highlight of the competition is its declared policy that the host team from Academy will not contest beyond the quarter final stage.
The National Client Consulting Competition conducted by the Kerala Law Academy is also a prestigious national competition attracting large number of participant law schools from various parts of the nation and has successfully completed its 13th year since its launch in 2000.

Fifth Competition
Held from 3rd to 5th February 1994 at the Kerala Law Academy, Inaugurated by Shri. C.V. Padmarajan, Honourable Minister for Electricity, Government of Kerala. Justice Radhakrishna Menon released the souvenir. The winner of the competition was National Law School, Bangalore comprising of Sreedhar Ghorti and Karandeep Singh. The team from S.S. Law College, Pune, Comprising of Hitesh and Thapan were the runners up. Justice John Mathew, Justice M.M. Pareed Pillay and Justice B.M. Thulasidas Honourable Judges of High Court of Kerala judged the finals Nazeea of Government Law College Calicut was adjudged the best lady performer.
Sixth Competition
Held from 9.3.1995 to 11.3.1995 at the Kerala Law Academy Campus. Inaugurated by Shri. K.M. Mami, Honourable Minister for Finance, Government of Kerala. Dr. J.V. Vilanilam, the Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University released the souvenir. University Law College, Bangalore won the competition and team from National Law School Bangalore were the runners up Justice K.T. Thomas, Justice Patnaik, Justice Shanmugham, Honourable judges of the High Court of Kerala judged the finals.
Seventh Competition
Held from 1.2.1996 to 3.2.1996 at the Kerala Law Academy Campus. Inaugurated by Shri. C.V. Padmarajan, Honourable Minister for finance, Government of Kerala. Professor M. Salihu, Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University released the souvenir. The team from National Law School, Bangalore won the competition. Eighth Competition
Held from the 6th to 8th February 1997 at the Kerala Law Academy Campus. Inaugurated by Shri. M.K. Damodharan, Advocate General of Kerala. The team from National Law School, Bangalore emerged winner. The team from Government Law College Ernakulam, were the runner ups. Zarina Habib of Government Law College, Ernakulam was adjudged the best performer. Justice Sankara Subban and Justice Sivarajan were Honourable Judges of the High Court of Kerala who judged the finals.
Nineth competition
Held from 5th to 7th February 1998, at Kerala Law Academy Campus. Inaugurated by Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon. The team from Dr. Ambedker Government Law College Pondicherry were winners. The team from ILS Law College Pune were the runners up. Mr. Dipen Subharwal of National Law School, Bangalore was the best student lawyer and Miss Sapna Khajura of the National Law School was the second best student lawyer. Justice J.B.Koshy, Justice Abdul Gafoor and Justice Sreedevi, Honourable judges of High Court of Kerala judged the finals.
Tenth Competition
Held from 18th to 20th February 1999 at Kerala Law Academy Campus. Inaugurated by Shri, T.Sivadasa Menon, the Honourable Minister for Finance, Government of Kerala. The team from National Law School emerged winners and the team from University Law College, Bangalore were the runners up. Mr. Kayan of National Law School, Bangalore was the best student lawyer and Miss Meghna of the Government Law College Chennai was the best Lady Advocate. Justice Mohammed Shafi, Justice C.S. Rajan and Justice Marimuthu, Honourable judges of the High Court of Kerala judged the finals of the competition.
Eleventh Competition
Held from 10th to 12th February 2000 at Kerala Law Academy Campus, was inaugurated by, his Excellency Justice Shr. Sukhdev Singh Kang, the Honourable Governor of Kerala in the presence of Dr. S.G. Bhat, Principal, Dr. Ambedker Government Law College, Pondicherry and Professor C. Robin, Principal Dr. Ambedker Government Law College, Chennai. The finals of competition was judged by a Justice A.R. Lakshmanan, Justice K.N. Narayana Kurup and Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan, Honourable Judges of the High Court of Kerala. The team from Government Law College Mumbai won the competition and the team from Government Law College Chennai became the runners up.
Twelth Competition
Was held from 8th to 10th February 2001 at the Kerala Law Academy Campus and was inaugurated by Dr. B. Iqbal, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Kerala in the presence of Dr. Alice Jacob, former member Law Commission of India and Dr. David Ambrose of Department of Legal Studies, University of Chennai and the finals judged by Kerala High Court Judges Justice M.R. Hariharan Nair, Justice M. Ramachandran and Justice Karian Joseph. Shri. K. Gopalakrishna Kurup, the Additional Director of Public Prosecution, High Court of Kerala and Dr. K.N. Chandrasekharan Pillai, Professor of School of Legal Studies CUSAT, participated in the valedictory address. The semifinalist included NALSAR, Hyderabad, Ambedkar Law College Chennai and M.S. Ramiah College, Bangalore and University Law College, Bangalore. The prize for the best student advocate and best lady advocate was awarded to S. Aarthi Anand of NALSAR, Hyderabad while the best memorial award went to University Law College, Bangalore. National Law School, Bangalore won the competition and West Bengal National University or Juridical Sciences, Kolkotta was the runners up.
Thirteenth Competition
Was held from 7th to 9th February 2002 at the Law Academy Campus and was inaugurated by Shri. S. Gopakumaran Nair, the then Chairman of Bar Council of Kerala in the presence of Shri. K.C. Venugopal, member of Legislative Assembly of Kerala. The finals were adjudged by Honourable Judges of the High Court of Kerala, Justice V.P. Mohan Kumar and Justice N.Krishnan Nair. National Law School Bangalore came first and the West Bangal National University of Juridical Science, Kolkatta, stood second.
